My Trip to Florida

I'm only going to write about part of the trip now because I'm sleepy! My overall trip experience though, I had an awesome time!

I left Winnipeg on Saturday April 14th and flew to Minneapolis. I had about a 4 hour wait there so I found my gate and then walked around a while. I ended up going back to my gate and sitting down to read. There was a woman sitting across from me with her little girl, a very cute 14 month old. The little girl looked at me a while then walked over to me and looked at my book and then up at me and then walked back to her mom. She did that a few times and stayed longer and longer each time. Then she held her arms up in the air and looked at me waiting for me to pick her up. So, I did! She sat in my lap and I talked to her for a while and then she just leaned against me and cuddled up. After a while she decided she had had enough of that, I guess she realised that if she didn't move she would fall asleep. She sat up and turned around in my lap and licked my cheek! Hahahahahahaha! Her mom was horrified and apologised so many times! I just sat there laughing with the little girl who found it funny that I was laughing! They left shortly after that to catch their flight and then I caught mine a while later.

I sat down in my seat on the way to Tampa from Minneapolis. I had three seats to myself, that is, of course, till the flight attendant came along and asked if I would be so kind as to move so that a mother traveling with her two young children could sit together. I got up and moved across the aisle and sat with a man from Sweden and his daughter. Three children now surrounded me! The little girl across the aisle was maybe 7 months and cried for a while and the boy was 2 and was in charge of things... I'm not a parent so I can't really say anything on how to raise children, but when you are a parent YOU are supposed to be the parent! All I'll say is, NO discipline. The girl from Sweden was a sweetheart though and was practicing writing out her numbers and her name. Her dad asked a lot of questions about Canada and the states, how to pronounce things properly, what words to use and was happy to learn the word 'tummy.' He wrote my name down on his daughter's piece of paper and she started writing my name out over and over again. Oh, she was 4 and I was very much impressed with her behavior and her spelling! They had been flying for a long time, straight from Sweden to Tampa with a few connections in between. She was very tired so at one point she climbed into my lap and slept. She was a cute little girl.

I arrived at Tampa, I don't remember what time it was, and when I got off of the airplane I could feel the humidity right away. I met Alyssa and her Uncle Mark and we went to get my luggage and then drove to Uncle Mark and Aunt Judy's house where we were staying. We got to their place and took a bit of a tour, it was dark out and windy and we were all pretty tired. It was pointed out to me that the outdoor things were all tied down not out of fear of theft, but because of the storm that was coming in. I was slightly worried that things needed to be tied down, but I was too tired to allow my worry to grow into anything more then a passing thought of, 'oh crap.' I unpacked my stuff and went to bed. I woke up on Sunday morning to a rain and windstorm. I could hear some thunder and so I rolled over and went back to sleep! It was really nice to be able to do that.

Anyway, I had a long day today and I have another long day ahead of me tomorrow so I'll write more about the trip later.
