A few things

My friend Baljinder is engaged! She's getting married this July out in Vancouver and then she'll be coming to Winnipeg in August to visit. I'm kind of sad that I won't be able to be at her wedding because we had always talked about me being at her wedding, but that's how life goes sometimes. If some people are right this means that my time is coming! Some friends of ours said that Baljinder would get married first, out of our group of friends, and then me. I'm guessing that they weren't thinking clearly when they had that thought, though they were right about her being the first to get married out of that group of friends... I still think they are wrong!

If I were to have followed the trend in my recent family history then this past month I would have given birth to a baby girl. I like to be the one to shake things up and change traditions! Both my mom and my sister were my age when they had their first child, both of them had a girl and they both had them in March; yeah, I'm a real rebel.

At work I still haven't gotten a raise from the position that I was given 3 months ago. I'll stay on while I'm in school and then give my two weeks notice early November I think, that way I won't have to work another Christmas season in retail and will be able to focus on God. I'll have to quit after Christmas anyway because of the internship I'll be doing, I might as well get some time off for Christmas.

Well, I've said my piece for now.

It seems to me that you can focus on God anytime, regardless of whether you're going to work retail at Christmas. I often hear "I want to focus on God," as an excuse to legitimise some decision a person has made. I mean, who can argue with a person who says they want to focus on God? It's like the ultimate excuse for something.

All that to say, don't use it as an excuse, eh? If the working conditions are bad, quit. If you just don't want to work there anymore, quit. But be honest with why you're quitting, eh?

I am being honest. I don’t mind working at Blessings overall. However, I had a hard time working there over Christmas. I can’t do another Christmas with people vying over products that they don’t need, being insanely rude to other customers as well as to staff and constantly doing all they possibly can in order to get an even better deal when things are already on sale including threatening your job. It was hard to focus on God at that time because I was constantly faced with the stress from work. I'm not saying I didn't focus on God nor that I didn't try to focus on Him, but that it was very difficult to do at the time and that I have no intentions of doing it again. Also, I listed the other reasons for not wanting to work during Christmas: I want the time off, and I'll be quitting in order to do my interneship afterwards anyway.

But thanks for thinking that I would use that as an excuse, I appreciate your high regard of my character.

I didn't say that you were going to use it as an excuse, I simply reported that I have heard it used as an excuse a lot, and that I hoped you wouldn't use it as an excuse.

If I thought your character was so weak, I don't think we'd be friends. You know how I hate when people over-spiritualise things.

I went to Disneyland !!!

While you are both going, "Huh??" I thought I'd throw that one in randomly to remind you it's a public access blog we're all on and the world is reading...

For another completely random change of subject I'm looking for a Canadian who can explain to me why the final words of the Anthem are "O Canada we stand on God for thee" Are you stomping on God? Waiting on Him/ for Him and why for the country? In exchange I'll explain how Australia is "girt by sea" :-)

Blessings to both of you,

Lisa

Hahahaha! I hope you had an awesome time down there! Also, things are sorted out here.

Official Lyrics of O Canada!
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

So you see, we don't stand on God, though He is my rock and foundation, but stand on our guard for our country. Though I think I can guess about being "girt by the sea" I'd still love to hear what you have to say on it. Also, I was happy to read about your home situation and that you are enjoying it.

God bless you Lisa

It's the marketing of Jesus that I hate. It's his birthday, this country that we live in most of us don't believe in him. Yet Canadians always want Christmas off yada yada yada. This is not the time to buy bibles for people who wont read them and bible bookcases just in case. I don't want to market Jesus nor work for companies who are unfair to their employees with the excuse that we are Christian or not.
