First of all, thanks for the reminder; also, things are all straightened out now. That's awesome that you were able to make it to Disneyland. I've never had a desire to go there myself, but I'm glad you enjoyed your time there.
Now, Lisa has asked a question about the Canadian National Anthem so I think the best way to answer it is to simply post the actual words as opposed to trying to sort things out because I'm certain that would take me twice as long! So, here are the official lyrics of "O Canada!"

So to answer your question Lisa, we don't stand on God, though He is my rock and foundation, but stand on our guard for our country. Now, you mentioned an exchange, so I would love to hear your explanation of how Australia is "girt by sea"! On a side note, I was happy to read about your home situation and that you are enjoying it!

Well, so you're all "on guard" for Canada are you? Against what? The logical conclusion would be against the Americans but that doesn't satisfy... against the bears, moose, cougars, wolves or any other mammal that can shred, tear you or otherwise put holes in you like a cheap pair of stockings?
Nup- all those animals are Canadian. You don't guard against them, they keep the Americans out for you.
I think the guarding thing must all about the RCMP. No-one knows exactly what they are guarding in those nifty red jackets of theirs but they do it well and dashingly manly in all weather.
The word- "girt" appears in "Advance Australia Fair" as "our home is girt by sea". Girt. Billy Connelly, Scottish comedien does an excellent sketch on how this word appears no-where else in Australian English. I recommend it to you.
Of course as a little girl it took me years to realise that "Advance Australia Fair" wasn't about promoting some kind of national carnival (that strangely never seemed to visit my town) and that the opening lines, "Australians all let us rejoice" wasn't actually "Australians all are ostriches".
